Colour in Health and Disease
Colour in Health and Disease is a very useful little book. It comprises extracts from lectures given by Dr. Hylton, the healing guide working through Mrs. Irene Edouin. In the Preface it is stated that the booklet is in the nature of an introduction for the use of those who have thought only vaguely on this matter of Colour. It is the aim of Or. Hylton to bring som.e realisation of the simple everyday factors in the lives of normal men and women which go to make for happiness or unhappiness. A very interesting portion of the book deals with the "fall" of men and women who could have become really fine workers for Christ. This is included in the chapter on the Purple or Power Ray, and its co-worker, the Amethyst Ray, which is the spiritualised part of the purple. We all know, to our dismay, that sometimes spiritual ambition gradually dwindles into material ambition, and the pattern of the life is marred for this stage; it is the desire for power that has caused the downfall. Other important points which have a direct bearing on health and happiness are dealt with in a very practical way. Many people are feeling depleted by the strain of life today, and this little book may serve as the tonic they need for both mind and body.
This book was first published in 1937 when knowledge of the subject of Spiritual Healing was in its infancy in this modern age. Terminology like "Psychic Healing" would have been quite acceptable at that time but those who were "natural healers" would find it difficult now to become established within the confines of the requirements by such groups as BAHA. Codes of Conduct and Codes of Practice have been set up to protect both the patient and the healer. Simplicity is the key to the teachings of Dr. Hylton and it is still the same with the Christ teachings today. However, times have changed and it has become necessary within the Healing Field to make sure that all eventualities are covered. That means the sometimes things seem more complicated than they actually are. Understanding about the link between body, spirit and soul was not quite as clear-cut as it is today. Therefore when the soul is named a being the psychic counterpart of the physical body it is essential that the reader realises that knowledge and information have made great inroads since this book was first published. Because this book is so useful to those who are just beginning to learn about and take an interest in colour and what it can mean in their lives.
